A warm welcome awaits you from your hosts Margaret & Brian Fountain on their 180 acre mixed farm in the beautiful, picturesque Boltby village. It nestles in the valley below the Hambleton hills, in the midst of the Herriot Country and on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The 18th century stone built farmhouse has full central heating, comfortable en-suite bedrooms with original old oak beams. We provide an easy going and friendly atmosphere, so much so that many of our guests return year after year.
Our location is peaceful and relaxing for those wanting a few days' break in the North Yorkshire Moors National Parks with its panoramic views of natural beauty.
We are just 5 miles from the small cobbled market town of Thirsk, the home of James Herriot, our vet for many years! The central location is an ideal base to explore by car the nearby North York Moors and Coast, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Heartbeat and Herriot Country, Castle Howard, Fountains Abbey, Newby Hall, York & the Dales, as well as many National Trust attractions. The World of James Herriot Museum is a must visit too.
We are in the most ideal walking and riding country, right on your doorstep there are many footpaths and bridleways leading out into the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. There is a Trekking Centre in the village and for people walking the Cleveland Way we are just 1 mile from the path and we will give you a lift back up to it the next day. You'll get a friendly welcome and Yorkshire tea on arrival and we'll be keen to offer you local knowledge and recommend places to visit.
